The National Book Council actively supports this ecosystem through strategic initiatives including the Malta Book Fund,
Despite challenges like rising production costs and limited market size, Maltese publishers continue producing over 540 titles annually, showcasing both contemporary voices and cultural heritage. This resilience and commitment to literary excellence make Malta an ideal inaugural focus for the Mediterranean Publishing Fellowship.
